Gul Hameed clinches senior’s tennis tourney title

Karachi: Gul Hameed recovered from a set down to beat Sabih Wali in the summit clash of 60-plus singles in 24th Karachi Club Pakistan ITF Senior World Ranking Tennis Championship 2015 here Thursday at Karachi Club.

Gul Hameed lost the first set by 6-7 scored but made a strong comeback winning the next two sets by 7-5, 10-8 (7-5) score to clinch the title.

In 45-plus singles semifinal match, Mirza Raza eased into the final after his opponent Imran Ahmed Siddique retired from the match at the end of the first set. Raza took the first set by 6-3 score.

Meanwhile, in juniors tournament organized at the sidelines of the senior tournament, Mohammad Dada clinched U-13 event title after beating Farzan Ahmed by 6-2, 6-4 score.

In U-11 climax, Mohammad Yahya overpowered Ashar Azfar by 8-2 score. In U-17 final, Marib Malik defeated Nazif Ahmed by 6-3, 6-4 score.
