NA: (No electricity load shedding is being carried out for industrial sector: NA told)

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that no electricity load shedding is being carried out for industrial sector.

Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali told the House during question hour that six hours load shedding in urban areas and eight hours load shedding in rural areas is being carried out under a uniformed policy.

However, he said load shedding for longer duration is being carried out in areas of high losses feeders. Answering a question, Abid Sher Ali told the House that consensus of provinces is required for implementation of timely closure of shops at 8 p.m. marriage halls at 10 p.m. and restaurants at 11 p.m.

To a question, he said the government has reduced electricity tariff by five and half rupees per unit during the last few months. Abid Sher Ali told the House that the government is implementing a five year plan for up-gradation and improvement of electric transmission network.

To a question Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Mohammad Asif apprised the House that the government is working on micro macro and medium levels hydel power projects to overcome energy shortage in the country.

Minister for Industries and Production, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi told the House that there is no proposal under consideration to establish women development centres in the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in each district.

Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Rajab Ali Baloch informed the House that a cash assistance of 6.8 billion rupees were distributed among the flood affectees.

Replying to a call attention notice of Asia Naz Tanoli and others, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the House that technical and professional courses will soon be started at Polytechnic Institute Merabagwal in Islamabad.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed told the House that the government of Pakistan and Human Right Organizations of the world have condemned the inhuman act of executions of opposition political leaders in Bangladesh.

He was responding to a call attention notice of Sahibzada Tariqullah and others regarding hanging of various politicians including Mr. Ali Ahsan Mujahid, Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh and Salahuddin Qadir leader of the Bangladesh National Party by the so-called international Tribunal in Bangladesh in violation of agreement executed by Pakistan, Bangladesh and India in 1974.

Sheikh Aftab said the executions are violative of tripartite agreement signed by Pakistan, Bangladesh and India in 1974. The National Assembly also passed three bills. These bills were moved by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

These Bills have already been passed by the Senate. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar introduced “The Deposit Protection Corporation Bill, 2015” in the House which provides for the establishment of Deposit Protection Corporation.

Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid introduced the “Pakistan Baitul Mal (Amendment) Bill, 2015” in the House. The Bill provides for to further amendment the Pakistan Baitul Mal Act 1991.

The House on the eve of international day for elimination of violence against women, adopted a resolution recommending concrete efforts be made to end discrimination and elimination of violence against women.

The resolution was moved by Minister for Climate Change, Zahid Hamid. Later, the House was adjourned to meet today (Thursday).
