10 terrorists stormed Karachi Airport: DG Rangers

Karachi: Operation against terrorists who stormed Karachi Airport on Sunday night continued Monday morning and at least 10 terrorists were killed by the security personnel.

Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Maj General Rizwan Akhtar told media at the Karachi Airport that 10 terrorists had attacked the airport and operation against them continued from 11:30pm to 4:00am. He said a personnel of rangers has embraced martyrdom and four others are injured. He said moreover. Eight personnel of Airport Security Force (ASF) are also injured.

Maj Gen Rizwan said during the operation no airplane was affected. He said the terrorists have been killed and they seem Uzbek; however, DNA tests would be conducted to ascertain their identity. To a question that if the terrorists used Indian arms, he said probe in this regard was under way.

However, a spokesman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said up to 20 flights of PIA have been affected so far due to the closure of Karachi Airport.
