1,016,499 Children to be administered anti-polio drops

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Thursday said that the new phase of polio drive will be launched in Karachi from 7 October which will target 1,016,499 children under-five years.

The campaign will be launched in 80 union councils of six districts of Karachi and 2795 mobile teams will perform their duties.

This he said while presiding a meeting in his office. He said that during the campaign 153,548 children in Central district, 219,143 in Malir district, 472,927 in district West, 7965 in South district, 55719 in Eat district, while 107,197 in East district would be administered polio drops.

He said after completion of the drive against polio in Karachi, a similar campaign for 14 districts of interior Sindh with a target of 4,053,238 children in 644 Union Councils will be held from 12 October to 15 October in Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Naushehro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur and Kambar districts will be covered during the campaign.

He showed his concern over number of cases of dengue diagnosed patients in spite of spray against dengue virus and directed the program in-charge to ensure effective spray against dengue virus and submit a report against the cases.
