102 shopkeepers fined Rs206000

KARACHI, In a crackdown against profiteers, 102 shopkeepers were charged with Rs206000 fine for selling commodities on above rate than fixed by the city administration.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the campaign launched against profiteers would continue till they ensured that the commodities were sold at rates fixed by the administration.

Siddiqui further said that city administration has focused those areas where complaints against price hike were received. These areas included Saddar, Aram Bagh, Garden, Ferozabad, Jamshed Quarters, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, New Karachi and Ibrahim Hyderi.

In the crackdown, 76 milkmen, 03 shopkeepers of general commodities, 20 chicken sellers and 03 vegetable sellers had been fined on selling essential items on excessive prices.
