11 suspects on banned outfit sent to jail

KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday sent 11 suspects belonging to banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi to jail on judicial remand in explosives material, attempting murder and encounter cases.

Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) produced the suspects Qari Mohammad Mohsin, Qari Mohammad Akram, Mohsin Khan, Syed Mohammad Riaz, Anas Mohammad, Mohammad Arshad, Abdul Wakeel, Abdul Wahab, Mohammad Owais and others before the administrative judge of ATC, Justice Mohammad Farooq Shah amid tight security after the expiry of their physical remand.

While sending all the suspects to jail on judicial remand, the court directed Investigation Officer to produce challan within one week.

Earlier, the IO had informed the court that the accused were arrested after an encounter in Ittehad Town.

According to CTD, the suspects belonged to Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. The police’s department claimed that the suspects were planning to spread terror in the city. CTD have seized rickshaw with explosives substance, rocket launchers, rifles, detonator and bombs from suspect’s possession.
