1440 dengue fever cases reported in Karachi this year

KARACHI: As many as 1486 dengue fever cases have been reported throughout the Sindh province in 2015, out of which 1440 occurred in Karachi.

According to the data issued by Dengue Prevention & Control Program Sindh, a total of 1486 dengue fever cases occurred in Sindh province from 1st January to 17th September 2015, out of which 1440 were detected in Karachi city alone, while three people died of dengue fever in the city during this period.

Out of total dengue fever reported cases, 1440 happened in Karachi, 19 in Hyderabad, seven in Larkana, four in Mirpurkhas, three each in Shaheed Benazirabad & Thatta, two each in Sukkur, Ghotki & Umerkot, one each in Sanghar, Shikarpur, Matiari and Jaccobabad.

The most of dengue fever cases were reported from district west areas, including Metroville, Orangi and Baldia, district central’s areas of North Nazimabad and North Karachi, district east’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed Town and Defence Housing Authority areas, while addresses of over 200 patients could not be verified yet.

A total of 104 more dengue fever cases emerged across the province since last three days, out of which 99 were reported from Karachi, three from Hyderabad, one each from Umerkot and Matiari.
