Peshawar: Minister for state for water and power Abid Sher Ali on Wednesday visited the cyclone hit areas of Dalazak road and said all 240 affected feeders have been re-functioned while work on transmission line is in full swing to restore power supply.
While talking to media at Grid Station, Minister said cyclone has caused huge damage to transmission lines electric poles besides 260 feeders were tripped during storm however after necessary arrangements light in some of the area was restored within few hours of the disaster.
“ we are hopeful power of all affected areas will be restored within few days as dozens of transmission line poles were up rooted as well as line was broken due to powerful storm,” Abid Shir Ali said.
Talking about load shedding minister for state said power will remain suspend only for six hours in those areas where line losses would be less than 30 % adding that 270 feeders in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa are running in 80% losses.
“ we have offered to the consumers of these areas to pay only 30-40% of their bills and rest would be right off however despite commitments they did not pay their bills,” he said adding that how can government continue supplying power if consumers at feeders running in losses are not paying their bills.
Minister said that with some of the steps government has been succeeded to cut off circular debt by 7 to 8 billion saying that government has provided a big relief to the consumers by cutting the electricity rate by Rs 4.50 per unit last month.
Abid She said utility bills would now be published with the pictures of meter reading so the consumers will know their actual consumption as well as those officials involve in over billing would also be exposed.
Answering a question minister for water and power said Wadpa has paid Rs 540 million to the KP government for land to established 220 KV Chakdara Grid Station but despite passing a year KP government has failed to transfer this land.
He said that 1500 MW electricity will be added to the system before the holy month of Ramadan which will help to provide some relief of load shedding to the consumers.
