KARACHI: At least 300 personnel will be deployed from September 18 for the security of traffic policemen at dangerous spots recognized in the city. The personnel to be deployed had completed their training at Rapid Reform Force Base in Qayyumabad under the ADIG Traffic Karachi. The traffic authorities had demanded of Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali to provide more arms and ammunition along with bulletproof jackets for the safety of traffic policemen.
This was informed by AIGP Traffic Khadim Hussain Bhutti while presiding over a meeting on security and training of traffic wardens. The meeting was also attended by all SSPs, DSPs and SOs.
The traffic authorities came into motion after the recent murder attempt on two traffic policemen on Mai Kolachi Road. The meeting decided that no single policeman will be deployed for traffic duty without weapon in view of security risks, and at least four constables will be deployed with heavy weapons to regulate the traffic on road spot and two for the security of these policemen.
AIGP traffic directed officials concerned to ensure removal of illegal encroachments before Eidul Azha and accelerate action against traders of sacrificial animals, who had blocked different roads and had created hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic in the metropolis.
