LARKANA: The Director, Directorate of Schools Education (Primary), Larkana, Anwar Khokhar, in separate letters sent to the Education Secretary, has informed him that 359 school buildings are in dangerous condition in Kambar-Shahdadkot district, out of which 304 are for boys and 55 for girls.
He further informed that as many as 222 school buildings are shelterless, out of which 184 are for boys and 38 for girls. He wrote that 1701 additional classrooms were required in the district, of which 1339 for boys and 362 for girls. He said that 589 schools were without washrooms, out of which 477 are for boys and 112 for girls, while 623 schools are without drinking water facility in the district.
He said that 214 schools are without boundary wall facility. The director further added that 590 schools were without electricity where solar panels were required. “In Kashmore district, 125 school buildings are in dangerous condition. Similarly, out of 644 shelterless schools, 571 are for boys and 73 for girls. As many as 346 additional classrooms are required in 229 boys schools and 117 in girls schools.”
Khokhar further said that 363 schools are without washroom facility out of which 290 were boys and 73 for girls, adding 232 schools were without drinking water facility out of which 162 were boys and 68 girls. Anwar further wrote that 563 schools were without boundary walls in the district, while 638 schools are without electricity, 529 boys & 109 girls, which require solar panels.
This information was sent to him by the District Education Officers concerned of these two districts who physically verified the ground reality accompanied by relevant executive engineer to ascertain the condition and strength of existing building infrastructure, including identification of missing facilities in the schools, in compliance to the order passed by Sindh High Court Circuit Court, Larkana.
