43 profiteers fined in city

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui informed here on Thursday that divisional and district authorities conducted various crackdowns against profiteers in the metropolis in which 43 profiteers were fined Rs86500 for overcharging and sent one profiteer to prison.

Actions were taken in Liaquatabad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, New Karachi, Shah Faisal, Sadder, Aram Bhagh, Civil line, Garden, Harber, Jamshaid Coatter, Orangi Town, South, Central, West, East, Malir and Korangi District of the city. The commissioner said one profiteer was sent to prison for continuous violation of official rates.

He said it would not be tolerated that profiteers to indugle in overcharging. He also warned that the operation would be continued till profiteers stop overcharging and sell commodities as per official rates.
