47 profiteers fined for overcharging

KARACHI: In a crackdown on profiteers, 47 shopkeepers were charged with Rs 87500 fine for selling commodities above official rates.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said on Tuesday that the campaign launched against profiteers would continue till they ensured that the commodities were sold at fixed rates.

In the crackdown, 24 milkmen, 10 shopkeepers of general commodities, 10 chicken sellers and three vegetable sellers were fined for selling essential items at excessive prices.
