55 profiteers fined, two held

KARACHI: In a crackdown on profiteers, 55 shopkeepers were charged with Rs 101,000 fine for selling commodities above official rates, while two others were jailed.

In the crackdown, 37 milkmen, 13 shopkeepers of general commodities, two chicken sellers, two vegetable sellers and one fruit seller were fined for selling essential items at excessive prices, while two persons were sent to jail for continuous violation of official rates.
