59 profiteers fined for overcharging

KARACHI: In a crackdown on profiteers, 59 shopkeepers were charged with Rs 146, 000 fine for selling commodities above official rates, while four others were jailed.

In the crackdown, 32 milkmen, 17 shopkeepers of general commodities, five chicken sellers, three vegetable sellers and two fruit sellers were fined for selling essential items at excessive prices, while four persons were sent to jail for continuous violation of official rates.
