66% Pakistanis believe labourers are underpaid for their level of hard work, Poll

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 66% Pakistanis believe labourers are underpaid for their level of hard work.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Some people think that labourers are given are given a lower salary for their skills while others believe they are paid according to their hard work.

What is your opinion?” Responding to this, 66% said labourers are paid less for their level of hard work, 29% said labourers are paid according to their level of hard work and 4% said labourers are paid more for their level of hard work. 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2596 men in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during May 05, 2014 – May 12, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
