800,000 wheat bags being distributed among drought-hit families

KARACHI: Provincial minister for food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that food department Sindh had handed over almost 800,000 wheat bags free of cost to relief department in drought-hit districts Tharparkar, Sanghar, Kachho, Dadu, Thatta, and Jamshoro and out of which 400,000 wheat bags had been given to drought-affected families.

This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Thursday. He said that in first phase, 380,000 wheat bags had been provided to Sindh relief department from godowns of Mithi, Chachro, Islamkot, Diplo and Nangarparkar, while in second phase, 389,918 wheat bags were being supplied. The minsiter said that wheat would be given in three sub phases.

Dahar said in Kachho 7096, in Thatta 1800 and in Jamshoro 8338 wheat bags are being provided to relief department and in Sanghar and Khipro 32952 wheat bags were being supplied to famine affected families. Provincial minister food told that in Umerkot almost 60000 wheat bags were being distributed and the function of food department was to hand over wheat to relief department and it was its duty to distribute it.
