Abid Ali, Yasir Khan win in PTF Masters’ Tennis event

Karachi: Mohammad Abid Ali Akbar and Yasir Khan won their respective matches on the fifth day of PTF Masters’ Invitational Tennis event at the Hard courts of Pakistan Sport Complex in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Matches are being played on round robin basis, best of five set format as that of Davis Cup.

In the first match of the day, Mohammad Abid Ali Akbar beat Asad Ali Siyyid. Abid Ali Akbar won the first set 6-0 without conceding a single game. He was leading 1-0 in the second set when Asad Ali Siyyid could not continue further due to medical reason and conceded the match in favour of Abid Ali Akbar.

In the second match of the day, Yasir Khan defeated Mohammad Abid in a marathon 4 hours and 20 minutes five-set encounter.

Mohammad Abid won the first set by 7-5 score after playing aggressive game from baseline. Yasir Khan came back in the match by taking next two sets at score 6-4 and 6-2.

In the fourth set, Abid started playing consistent game and took the set at 6-4 and levelled the match at two sets all.

However, in the final and decisive set, Yasir Khan played much improved tennis and took the set by 6-3 score.
