Accused remanded to police in SHO murder case

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Thursday remanded an accused, Syed Arsalan Ali, to police custody for seven days in Ghazanfar Kazmi murder case.

Police produced the accused before ATC-III judge amid tight security. Investigation officer requested the court to allow the physical remand of accused as the police wanted to investigate him to trace his connections and the whereabouts of his absconding accomplices, Umar Zaman and Mohammad Anwar, in this case. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to their custody for seven days.

Station House Officer (SHO) Preedy Ghazanfar Ali Kazmi was shot dead in a target attack on 13 August 2014 when armed assailants fired shot at his car near Uncle Sarya Hospital in Garden within the limits of Nabi Bux police station. He was shot multiple times and died on the spot.

The case FIR 168/2014 was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) Act of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at Nabi Bux police station.
