Accused remanded to police till 19th

KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism court (ATC) remanded three accused Mehmood Ali Ansari, Abdul Majeed and Mohammad Ismail to police custody till 19th February 2015 in attempt to murder and encounter cases.

Police produced the accused before the ATC judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court to allow the physical remand of the accused as they were required for investigation. IO requested the court that police needed the physical remand of the accused to map out his connections. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to their custody till 19 February.

According to prosecution, Gulistan-e-Johar police arrested the accused after an encounter on 4 February 2015 near Gulistan-e-Johar Block 16.

The case 85/15 was registered at Gulistan-e-Johar police station under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempt to murder) 34 (common intention)of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
