Administrator visits Faizee Rehameen Art Gallery

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro on Monday said immediate steps were required for beginning development work of Faizee Rehameen Art Gallery (Aiwan-e-Riffat), which would be a huge cultural complex of the city and would represent our traditions and culture.

He expressed concern over huge delay in completion of the project and directed that PC-1 should be submitted so that work on the project could begin as soon as possible.

“This project should have been completed by now; however, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) should now work out a comprehensive strategy for early start of the development works,” he said during a visit to the gallery. Director General Technical Services Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Senior Director CSR Rehan Khan, a representative of the contractor firm and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.

The administrator said it would be a unique project which would host the literary, cultural and other constructive activities. “This city of about 20 million needs art galleries and auditoriums to showcase talent and skills of the new generation.”

It was informed in a briefing given on the occasion that the whole project included the construction of a huge seminar hall, a modern art gallery and a centrally air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 1800 persons.

More than 400 vehicles could be parked in the parking lot. A conference room for 500 persons and cafeteria for100 person was also included in this project. The cost of the project is Rs530million.
