KARACHI: Karachi Traffic Police Department is launching an advance online system to check licenses using database of license department in collaborations with Telenor Mobile Company. Simply downloading an application in mobile phones or other electronic devices of officials concerned during the routine check in the metropolis will be functional next week.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh said that it would be mandatory for all drivers now to pay fine charges anyhow if they are found in any violation of traffic laws in the city, as the department is going to contract with Sindh’s Excise and Taxation Department to get data of vehicles’ owner. He said, those violating the law, will have to pay the fine money; otherwise, he or she will get copy of challan via courier at their homes.
Dr Amir acknowledged that the online system of checking licenses on the spot got too late as they had earlier contract with Ufone Mobile Company, which could not succeed, but now it will be started in collaboration with another private company next week in the city. He said that inserting the CNIC No. or license No. into the device, the system would access us to check the details of drivers’ licenses with the help of license department.
He said like developed countries, the Karachi Traffic Police Department will also bound negligent drivers to pay fine charges for traffic violations in the city, and if they do not pay the fine money, then the department would show them as defaulter on website.
He said they want better traffic system in the city, so all their efforts would help them to get better results in the traffic system soon.
