Ali stuns Mahad to enter squash tourney second round

Karachi: Unseeded Ali Imran pulled a sensational upset on the opening day of Independence Day Squash Tournament as he elbowed out second seed Mahad Javed here Wednesday at PSF Jahangir Khan Squash Complex, National Sports Coaching Center.

Ali took a 2-0 lead will the first two sets but Mahad managed to pull one to make it 1-2. However, Ali sealed the unexpected triumph winning the fourth set as well to record 11/2, 11/6, 7/11, 11/5 victory.

Meanwhile, Faizan Khan thrashed Fawad Khan in straight sets recording a formidable 12/10, 11/5, 11/4 triumph.

Fahad Aziz eased into the event’s second round after he got a walkover against Ahsan Siddiqui.
