All set for Pakistan Scrabble Championship

KARACHI: The Pakistan Scrabble Association (PSA) is organizing the 27th Pakistan Scrabble Championship on Sunday, 4th October 2015 from 10:00 am at Karachi Expo Centre, Hall No. 1, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi.

PSA is the first and only registered Scrabble club in Pakistan that was set up in 1989. The purpose of the PSA is to create positive learning through competitive and entertaining events that instil skills related to strategy, creativity, English, time management and discipline among its players. PSA sustains itself with corporate support and sponsorship.

The PSA is headed by Ms. Goshpi Avari as President. PSA has a very active schedule throughout the year. Regular monthly ranking tournaments and weekly Friday games are also conducted at Hotel Beach Luxury.

This year’s Championship it is expected to be the biggest Scrabble tournament in Pakistan to date with more than 800 players expected to compete for the title of National Champion in their respective categories that are determined through age groups. Players are divided into 6 age categories with the Top 3 in each category awarded trophies. Instant prizes for participants will also be awarded.

PSA will also be announcing the Team Pakistan in the event that will be participating in the World Youth Scrabble Championship in Perth, Australia from 31st October to 2nd November, 2015. Pakistan was the World Youth Champion in 2013 stood 2nd in 2014 and is favourite to win this year too.
