Altaf telephones Qureshi over stampede deaths

KARACHI: The Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain telephoned PTI vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and extended sympathies on the death of several people as a result of a stampede in the PTI public meeting in Multan.

He inquired about the details of the incident and said that the incident was not less than a tragedy. He asked Qureshi to convey his message to PTI chief Imran Khan and other leaders and workers that their grief was equally felt by all workers of MQM.

Hussain prayed to Almighty Allah to bless the people who died in the stampede. He also prayed for early recovery of the people who were injured in the incident.

Qureshi thanked Hussain on behalf of PTI chief Imran Khan and other leaders for calling and expressing sympathies in the time of grief. He informed Hussain about the details and added that the administration could not manage appropriately.

Only two gates of the venue of public meeting were opened and all other gates were locked. When the people tried to leave the venue after the end of the meeting, they were shot with water cannon. Hussain said that the use of water cannon by the administration was unfortunate.
