Altaf’s cousin released in Imran Farooq murder case: MQM

KARACHI: Detectives investigating the murder of Dr Imran Farooq in London have released Iftikhar Hussain Qureshi, cousin of Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain with no further action.

According to an MQM release issued here on Wednesday, the metropolitan police had arrested Qureshi on 24 June 2013 at Heathrow Airport while returning from Canada on suspicion of the murder of Dr Imran Farooq, Convenor of the MQM, who was murdered on 16 September 2010.

Qureshi was questioned for over 36 hours by the detectives of the Metropolitan police under detention. However, today, having found no evidence, they dropped the charges and formally released him. It is pertinent to mention here hat he was released on the police bail after the conclusion of his 36 hours questioning.
