Amar Cables, Lahore Lions win in National Seniors Cup

Karachi: Amar Cables and Lahore Lions won their respective matches with contrasting results in 5th National Veterans T20 Cup.

Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) is organizing this tournament.

In the first match played at Shah Faisal Cricket Ground in Lahore, Amar Cables defeated Sialkot Gold narrowly by five runs. Batting first, Amar Cables scored 170-2 in allotted 20 overs. Amar Ilyas scored 64 runs while former Pakistan captain Saleem Malik scored 62 runs.

In reply Sialkot Gold scored 165-5 using the quota of 20 overs. Zahid Rasheed top scored for the side with 54 runs.

In another match played at KRL Ground, Rawalpindi, Lahore Lions defeated Askari Green Rawalpindi convincingly by nine wickets. Askari Green batted first and scored 135-6 in allotted 20 overs. Irfan Bhatti scored 50 runs for the side. Imtiaz Shah, Javed Hayat and Ghaffar Kazmi took two wickets each.

Lahore Lions reached the target easily with nine wickets in hands. Dastagir Butt (69 runs) and Rizwan Naseer (54 runs) batted impressively for the side.

Six teams of the country are taking part win this tournament. The six teams are divided into two groups.

Group A consists of Lahore Lions, Islamabad Panthers and Rawalpindi Askari Greens. Group B consists of Amar Cables Lahore, defending champions Omar Associates Karachi and Sialkot Gold. The top two teams will play the semifinals on Saturday and the final will be played on Sunday in Lahore.
