Another polio case detected in Sindh

KARACHI: Another polio case surfaced in Sindh province on Tuesday, increasing the tally of cases of the crippling disease to three in the province during the current year.

The latest polio case was reported from Sukkur city. It was the third polio case of Sindh and 18th of the country this year. Earlier, two cases were reported from the province; one each from Kambar and Dadu districts.

According to the health officials polio infection was reported in 18-month old Uzair son of Qullo in Sukkur.

The officials told PPI that the government and heath department authorities were making all out efforts including polio immunization campaigns to vaccinate the children with anti-polio to save them of lifetime disability.

In 2014, 306 polio cases were reported in Pakistan, out of which 30 from Sindh province.
