Anti-dengue spray begins in city: Mahtab

KARACHI: Provincial Health Minister Jam Mahtab Hussain Dahar on Monday said that spray against dengue virus in collaboration with Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has been launched in Karachi.

“For the purpose big vehicles will be used on roads while motor cycles will be in narrow streets so that common man may be saved from this fatal disease”.This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Dengue. Program In-charge Dr Masood Solangi also attended the meeting.

In the meeting, it was told that so far 850 cases of dengue had been reported in Karachi out of which three died while 29 cases were reported from other parts of Sindh.

Jam Mehtab said all Deputy Commissioners of Sindh have been directed to cooperate with the teams of health department in spray campaign while isolation wards in Civil Hospital Karachi, Jinnah Hospital, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Lyari Hospital are being improved.

He said from Tuesday (today) social mobilizes will distribute pamphlets regarding awareness on dengue and in first phase it will be started at Kabooter Chowk Sindh Secretariat and Civic Centre and gradually this campaign will cover the whole Karachi while these awareness pamphlets have already been given to educational institutions and Masajid.

He directed to program in-charge to make social mobilizes more effective to make the campaign successful.
