Anti-Diabetes awareness walk held

SIALKOT: The hundreds of the diabetics, doctors, journalists, traders, lawyers, educationists, representatives of NGOs and paramedics Saturday participated in anti-Diabetes awareness-raising walk, taken out in Sialkot City by Sialkot Health Department.

Sialkot EDO (Health) Dr. Javaid Warraich and local MPA Ch. Mohammad Ikram jointly led the walk, which began from Model Town Sialkot and ended at Allama Iqbal Chowk Sialkot after passing through all the main inter-city roads. The participants were carrying the banners and placards.

Addressing the participants, the doctors said that the diabetes was also a “silent killer”, saying that the diabetes was rapidly spreading across the world, as one person was becoming diabetic with every second in the world.

They said that the ratio of the fatal diseases including heart diseases, paralyzing, blindness and failure of the kidneys due to diabetes was also growing adding that there was a 22 percent increase in the ratio of the deaths caused by the diabetes around the world and the situation was alarming.

The diabetes experts revealed that according to the fresh data compiled by the World Health Organization (WHO), there would be 540 million diabetics in the world till the year of 2035…
