KARACHI: On the directives of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, anti-encroachments department of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has sped up its campaign against the encroachments and took action in different areas on Tuesday in the city.
The anti-encroachments staff took action simultaneously in different areas of the city and removed many concrete and semi-concrete structures. During the action, buffalo farms and many roadside patharas and shops were removed near Askari Park on University Road and about 12 concrete illegal houses and boundary walls were demolished in Korangi No.2 ½ and Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block-10.
Rangers, police and district administration officials were also present during the operation. The staff faced no resistance during its action in Korangi.
Chairman Anti-encroachments and Senior Director Bilal Manzar supervised the action near Askari Park along with the director anti-encroachments Mazhar Khan and other officials.
The removal of roadside patharas and pushcarts cleared the way for vehicular traffic on University Road and other link roads.
The anti-encroachments squad following the directive of High Court razed more than five illegally constructed bungalows of 400 sq yards. Lady police officials also took part in this action and vacated the residents from the bungalows.
Manzar said the administrator had issued strict directive for carrying out operation and he wanted this campaign to be conducted with the coordination of all district municipal corporations and other concerned bodies. The action against encroachments would continue till the removal all encroachments in the city.
