Army achieve unprecedented success in war against terrorism, Governor

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that our Nation and Pak Army are on the same page against militancy and have achieved unprecedented success in war against terrorism in the history. He said the entire Nation has declared the war against terrorism and stands united to uproot the menace of militancy and terrorism once for all.

He expressed these views in 41st Apex Committee meeting which was held at Governor’s house, Peshawar on Wednesday; Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan was in the chair. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khan Khattak, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen Hidayat ur  Rehman,  IGFC Maj. General Tayyab Azam, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani, Commandant Frontier Constabulary Liaqat Ali Khan, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary FATA, Secretary Home and other concerned officials.

In the session, Governor reviewed the implantation of National Action Plan against militancy. Detailed briefing have given to the participants of the meeting regarding ongoing operation Khyber 2 and achievements successes gained in this operation was discussed. It was said that remaining militants will be soon combated.

For this in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, Zero Tolerance Policy will be implemented. Apex committee was apprised about repatriation and rehabilitation of TDPs in 1st phase to their native tribal land and mentioned that according to present programme for TDPs is implementing whole heartedly and up till now one lak of TDPs have returned to their homes. For which there is strong coordination among concerned departments.

On the occasion Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan said that no stone will be left unturned for the rehabilitation and repatriation of TDPs to their homes. He said every possible endeavor would be done to utilize all available recourses to ensure early and dignified return of TDPs and their rehabilitation adding that provision of facilities in the returning process of TDPs would be made sure at any cost and funds will be issued from Annual Development Programm without delay. In this connection he said Rs. 550 million has already been provided from FATA ADP to expedite the return process.

The committee discussed in detail the current security situation prevailing in FATA as well as in the province and also reviewed the progress of ongoing operation Khyber 2 and return plan of TDPs. while terming the role of the Rescue 1122 in provision of timely relief to people in trouble, it was decided that existing rescue centers in Peshawar and Mardan would be upgraded and new rescue centers with modern facilities will be established in all divisional HQs.

The meeting also discussed the importance of northern by Pass road, will not only provide local residents with a better road network and other related facilities but will also prove to be major economic corridor and enhance  traditional trading links with neighboring Afghanistan.
