KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism court-IX (ATC-IX) on Wednesday granted a bail to accused Amir Hamza against surety bonds worth Rs400,000 in explosives material and police encounter case.
ATC-IX judge granted a bail to accused in both cases after hearing the arguments from both sides. Investigation Officer opposed the grant of bail; however, the court granted bail to Amir Hamza.
Date of arrest of accused became dispute as police claimed that they arrested the accused on 30th April 2014 during an encounter within the jurisdiction of Meethadar police station while accused mother Nafeesa filed the application in the court which stated that accused was arrested by rangers on 21st April 2014 when he was coming back from his friend’s home.
The case FIR 85/14 and 87/14 was registered under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324(attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) act of the Pakistan Penal Code and 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Meethadar Police Station.
