ATC issues death warrants of Saulat Mirza, to be hanged on March 19

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday issued death warrants for Saulat Mirza and fixed 19th March 2015 as date for his execution.

Mirza, a professional target killer involved in killing of three persons in 1997 allegedly belonged to a political party. Mirza was lately in Mach Jail, Balochistan. He was shifted their along with four other high-profile prisoners in April 2014.

Earlier today Karachi Central Jail Authority approached the ATC and sought his death warrants. ATC judge issued Mirza’s death warrant and he is expected to be hanged on 19 March at 5:30 AM.

Mirza was sentenced to death by ATC in 1999 for killing the Managing Director of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) now known as K-Electric (KE) Shahid Hamid, along with his driver Ashraf Barohi and guard Akbar Khan in 1997 in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi.

Mirza‘s appeals have already been rejected by the Supreme Court and Sindh High Court and the President of Pakistan has also rejected his mercy plea.
