ATC re-issues death warrant of Saula Mirza

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday re-issued death warrant for Saulat Mirza and fixed 1st April 2015 for his execution.

Earlier on 11th March the same court had issued black warrant for Mirza and fixed 19th March for his execution. However, his execution was halted just before the few hours of his hanging.

Mirza, a professional target killer, was involved in killing of three persons in 1997 and he was allegedly belonged to a political party. Mirza is currently in Mach Jail, Balochistan. He was shifted there along with four other high-profile prisoners in April 2014.

Last week Mach Central Jail authority approached the ATC and sought the death warrant for Saulat Mirza yet again. ATC judge on Tuesday re-issued Mirza’s death warrant and he is expected to be hanged on 1st April at 5:30 AM.

Mirza was sentenced to death by ATC in 1999 for killing the then Managing Director of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) now known as K-Electric (KE) Shahid Hamid, along with his driver Ashraf Barohi and guard Akbar Khan in 1997 in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Karachi.
