KARACHI: A delegation of more than 100 shopkeepers of Bolton Market led by Rafiq Jadoon, President of Bolton Market Association visited the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Wednesday to pay glowing tribute to KCCI for its effective role in highlighting various issues being faced by business community of Karachi city, particularly small traders.
President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki, after thoroughly listening to some of the problems highlighted by the visiting delegation, assured full support in resolving these issues, particularly the rising lawlessness being faced by perturbed shopkeepers.
He also stressed the need to strengthen coordination between KCCI and various associations in commercial markets of Karachi which would timely bring issues to the notice of Karachi Chamber and all office bearers will try their level best to ensure that these issues are resolved on time.
Abdullah Zaki said that Chairman of Businessmen Group & Former President KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli always gives high priority to minimize the grievances being faced by small traders as he strongly believes that small traders are playing a commendable role in the economic activities of Karachi and they deserve special attention of Karachi Chamber.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Bolton Market Association, Rafiq Jadoon paid glowing tribute to Chairman of Businessmen Group Siraj Kassam Teli and all office bearers for their relentless support to small traders. “We have complete faith on BMG leadership as they have always responded to the hardships and wholeheartedly supported small traders whenever they are in trouble”, he added.
Recalling the tragic incident of attack on Ashura procession in 2009 and the losses suffered by small traders when their shops were set ablaze by angry mob, Rafiq Jadoon said that it was due to the untiring efforts of BMG leadership and KCCI office bearers that every single shopkeeper was fully compensated and their shops were reconstructed.
“We will always remember KCCI’s role as the chamber approached highest authorities from Karachi to Islamabad to seek assistance. We are very grateful to BMG leadership, particularly Siraj Kassam Teli for understanding the grievances suffered by small traders and undertaking gigantic relief work on war-footing basis”, he added.
