KARACHI: Polling process was stopped briefly at different polling stations due to clashes between political opponents on the eve of Local Bodies Elections in Karachi on Saturday.
According to sources, after clashes between political opponents the polling process was interrupted at some polling stations of Liaquaitabad, Orangi Town, Lyari and other areas.
However, Rangers arrested some fake polling officials from different polling stations. Some persons were injured due to clashes between political workers in Landhi who were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JMPC) for treatments, while unidentified men torched two motorbikes in Landhi No. 1 area, completely destroying them.
However, police restored to baton charge to control tense situation, besides Rangers surrounded the polling station and threw out irrelevant people from it.
Separately, two political workers were wounded in Orangi Town Union Council (UC) 28 after clash between political opponents. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On other side, a man was arrested while casting vote with a fake identity card in UC- 4 in Metrovill area, while another fake voter was detained by police from Ibrahim Ali Bhai School.
