Buffer Zone braves acute water shortage

KARACHI: Buffer Zone are of Karachi has been witnessing acute shortage of potable water and the tanker mafia is minting money at the cost of hapless residents who are even deprived of drinking water in some lanes.

The worse affected areas are Sector-15-A-1, 2, 3,4 and 5. The supply of potable water to these localities has been irregular for long. The residents are these densely populated areas have no option but to purchase large bottles of water for drinking and cooking. For other household chores they have to use costly water of tankers or brackish water of bore-wells.

The citizens have requested the local government department and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to take notice of this artificial water shortage in Buffer Zone and supply it its due share of water. They also demanded to take action against corrupt KWSB officials and tanker mafia who are looting the innocent citizens with both hands through this artificial water shortage in this hot summer season.
