Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food, Haji Qalandar Khan Lodhi has said that 1,40,000/- tons wheat stock is available in godowns of the province that is sufficient for our coming four months needs.
He revealed that target of three lakh tons wheat procurement has been fixed for initial eight months of next financial year. “The good omen is that beyond expectations increased crops have been noticed this year wherein bumper wheat crop is also expected that will help us to procure the target amount and quantity of wheat at local levels in all divisions of the province including Chitral, D.I.Khan, Malakand and Hazara”, he added. However, he furthered said that all arrangements of prompt purchase of wheat have also been made through PASCO and other sources in case of any urgency.
He was chairing review meeting of the Working Group of Food Department at his office Civil Secretariat Peshawar. The meeting threadbare discussed arrangements for catering needs of wheat and other food commodities; demand and supply situation of essential items and other related matters whereas necessary decisions were also taken.
It besides the members was attended by Deputy Secretary Law Mohammad Shakeel, Director Food Mohammad Anwar Khan, Deputy Director Coordination Nowshad Ali Khn, Deputy Director Accounts Mohammad Rokhan, Incharge Planning Cell Engr. Mohammad Hanan, Asstt: Director Food Hadi Khan and other concerned officials.
Qalandar Lodhi directed the Food Department authorities to make these arrangements foolproof in all respects. Similarly, he also asked for strictly ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene conditions at slaughter houses, fruit, vegetable and meat markets and shops as well as continues the process of inspections and raids on daily and regular basis.
He directed to award exemplary punishment to the negligent shopkeepers and traders including imprisonment and heavy fines. He made it clear that PTI led coalition government would ever never spare those who otherwise played with health of the masses. Similarly, he cautioned that government officials and officers showing lethargy in fulfilling their assigned tasks would also be never spared anyhow.
He vowed the agenda of change would be cherished at every cost that was basically aimed to formation of healthy welfare society based on supremacy of law, merit and justice. He said the dream of New Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be soon realized under the dynamic leadership of Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
