Burglary in jewellery shop

SIALKOT: Some unknown thieves broke into a big jewellery shop, took away gold weighing 3 KGs, silver weighing 4 KGs and Rs. 0.4 million in cash during this major burglary incident occurred in Main Bazaar Kingra, Pasrur tehsil here Wednesday.

Owner of the burgled jewellery shop Zaheer Ahmed Bhatti of village Pindi Minhasaan told the police that he went back home after locking his jewellery shop late at the last night (the night between Tuesday and Monday. During this, some unknown thieves broke into shop and fled away after taking 3 KGs gold worth of Rs. 12 million, four KGs of silver worth of Rs. 0.2 million and Rs. 0.4 million in cash.

He told the police that in Wednesday morning he came there to open his jewellery shop as per routine and he came to know about this nasty incident.

Sabzpeer police are investigating with no clue or arrest, in this regard.

Meanwhile, a score of local traders and jewellers, staged a protest demonstration to lodge their strong protest against this major theft incident. They also staged sit in on main Sialkot-Kingra-Zafarwal Road and kept the traffic blocked for about two hours by burning the tyres there. They also chanted anti police slogans, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Later, senior police officials reached there and they negotiated with the protesting traders. They assured about the early arrest of the accused. On this surety, the protesting traders and jewellers dispersed peacefully.
