Call to include Tannery Zone in Rs150bn uplift package

KARACHI: Acting Chairman Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) SZ, Amir Majeed, has strongly demanded of the Co- Chairman of PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, to give due right from the Rs150 billion development package to the second largest export industrial leather sector and its largest tannery zone in Pakistan comprising 35% of leather industries of the country.

He mentioned that PPP Chairman had recently announced city package of Rs150 billion for development works in Karachi. He demanded that Tannery Zone should also be included in the package and be given due share for roads, water, and solid waste removal.

There is no water in Tannery Zone since last two decades, he added. “We want government attention and relief package for Tannery Zone on priority for the leather industry in Sindh to survive,” Amir Majeed said.
