Call to start spring tree plantation

LARKANA: The Divisional Forest Officer, Mohammad Ali Unar, in a circular letter addressed to all the headS of Government departments throughout Larkana division and NGOs has emphasized the urgent need to start spring tree plantation campaign 2014-15 in view of the unpredictable climate change.

In his letter, Unar said: “This also embodies the participation of all departments, organizations, volunteers and civil society in particular to achieve the fruitful results in the short span of spring season by growing one tree and the participation, cooperation and support for the national cause of increasing tree cover as a whole is the need of the time as the readiness plan and mitigation plan by planting maximum number of samplings and conservation of existing resources respectively.

He requested all the stakeholders to make the season successful by planting maximum number of trees and samplings in the offices, schools, amenity plots, colleges, playgrounds, government buildings or areas lying under the administrative control of all the DDOs to achieve the targets of tree plantation and make the division greener as solid strategy for increasing tree cover is prerequisite due to unpredictable climate change, he concluded.
