ISLAMABAD: : The Council of Common Interests (CCI) will meet here today (Wednesday) with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the chair. The CCI meeting will discuss matters about the conduct of census in the country as well as gas and electricity problems.
This was stated by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada while responding to a call attention notice moved by Syed Naveed Qamar in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
He informed the House that the last meeting of CCI was held on May 29 last year and its scheduled meetings in the past could not be held due to a particular situation in the country and lack of agenda.
He, however, said that the meeting will now be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. and all the Chief Ministers have been requested to ensure their presence. Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement staged a token walkout from the House over delay in the holding of CCI meeting. Five bills were introduced in the House.
These bills included: The Constitution Amendment Bill, 2015 (Amendment in Article 92), The Federal Witness Protection Bill, The National Commission for Minorities Bill, 2015, The Constitution Amendment Bill, 2015 (Amendment in Article 260) and The Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) (Amendment) Bill, 2015. The chair referred the bills to concerned standing committees.
