Chakwal:,,, The two mega project regarding construction of two roads of Chakwal Sohawa and Chakwal Mandra road would be restarted in the next few days as the tender of both these projects were successfully taken by NLC.
The tenders were opened in the presence of MNA of Chakwal Maj. (R) Tahir Iqbal and MNA of Gujar Khan Raja Javed Ikhlas, on Monday These two projects were approved by Ex-Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on August 2012 and 100% funds were released to the concerned departments and the work on these two roads have been started.
Chakwal Mandra road is to be completed with the cost of Rs. 2 billion and hundred million while Chakwal Sohawa road is to be completed with the cost of Rs. 3 billion and 3 hundred million and these projects would have to be completed by 30 June 2013.
The work have been started rapidly and due to the general election of 11th May, caretaker govt. were installed in the country and the works on these two projects were stopped and later on stay order was also taken from the superior judiciary.
More than 30% have lost their lives, more than 100% received multiple injuries and more over hundreds of the vehicles amounting million of Rupees were damaged and the travel on these two roads were very difficult as there were deep ditches dug by the department while the work was started.
The opposition parties of district Chakwal have launched a protest movement against the delay on these two projects. Ex-district nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas along with his more the 100000 supporters made a sit in at Dhudial chowk and they gave a dead line of two months.
PTI, PPP, PMLQ, PAT and all others opposition parties and groups were on the same page and they were demanding immediate re-start on these two roads otherwise law and order situation would be developed and the PMLN elected representative in the area of would be responsible and if accident would occur on these two roads, FIR will be got registered against the MNA’s of the area.
Some 20 days ago Major (R) Tahir Iqbal MNA, Raja Javed Ikhlas MNA and Begum Iffat Liaqat MNA in a press conference cum public meeting declared that the work on these projects would be started and the tender is to be called on 16th June and thus the elected representative fulfilled their commitment.
The people of the Chakwal and Gujar Khan have expressed their satisfaction as the work on these two projects is to be started and after the completion a new era of progress and prosperity would be ushered in these remote areas.
