Chlorination of water as per international standards ordered

KARACHI: Provincial local government minister and chairman Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), Jam Khan Shoro, on Thursday directed relevant officers to ensure chlorination of water as per international standards.

Shoro urged them to provide germ-free and chlorinated water to the people. “Elected representatives can inspect KWSB’s water chlorination process anytime and can surely give us suggestions for the betterment,” he stated.

Chairman KWSB directed his managing director Misbahuddin Fareed to pay special visits to the water chlorination centres and check the process. “ Any negligence would not be tolerated, while KWSB should take the water chlorination process as per priority” he directed.

Jam Khan Shoro stated that mix up of chlorine in water is the matter of life and death, hence there is need to take every possible step for the eradication of Naegleria. “KWSB has provided chorine bottles free of cost to the citizens to mix it in their water tanks, “ Shoro added.

MD KWSB Misbahuddin Fareed has appointed Mohammad Azam Khan as a focal person and directed him to supervise chlorination process in filter plants and bulk water lines.

Fareed directed his officers to take the water samples from city’s all areas and examine them at KWSB’s laboratory which is full of modern amenities.
