ISLAMABAD: Hafiz Mohammad Tahir Ashrafi, a prominent religious scholar, claimed on Tuesday that he was pushed and shoved angrily by Maulana Mohammad Khan Sheerani, Chairman of Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) at a meeting of the council.
“Maulana Sheerani tried to assault me, he hit me on face and neck before another member intervened,” Hafiz Ashrafi said while speaking to media persons here on Tuesday.
“Sherani and his aides from Balochistan tried to assault me… My life is under threat,” claimed Hafiz Ashrafi, who is Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) chairman and member of the CII.
Earlier, another CII member, Allama Saeed Ahmed, confirmed the incident saying that Hafiz Ashrafi exchanged harsh words with Maulana Sheerani over the matter of Qadianis who have been declared non-Muslims.
