CJP: (CJP pledges to continue efforts for ensuring rule of law)

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali has vowed to continue efforts for rule of law. Addressing a ceremony at the advent of New Judicial Year here on Monday, he said it will be his utmost effort to ensure provision of speedy and inexpensive justice to the litigants.

He pointed out that the judiciary disposed of some cases of extra ordinary nature in the last judicial year. The judgment in the 18th and 19th constitutional amendment case was given in the best interest of public welfare. This judgment also articulated the powers of parliament and the judiciary, he added.

Similarly, he said the judicial commission on 2013 general elections furnished its recommendations in accordance with the law and constitution. He said a strategy will be evolved in consultation with bar to ensure speedy disposal of cases.
