Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa All Class IV Government Employees Association has called off its protest and strike after Chief Minister Pervez Khattak assured them to consider their demands seriously.
This announcement was made during a meeting of the office bearers of the association with the Chief Minister at CM House on Tuesday. The provincial Information Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Minister Minerals ZiaUllah Afridi, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Establishment Dr. Akhtar Nazir and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
It merits mentioning here that following the Chief Minister’s directives the Provincial Information Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani held talks with the protesting employees at Suray Bridge Chowk and brought their representatives to CM House for meeting with the Chief Minister.
Talking to the Class IV employees Pervez Khattak recalled that he had mentioned the up gradation plan of government employees in his first speech after assuming office of Chief Minister as, he added, it was envisaged in the PTI’s manifesto.
He told that fulfillment of this commitment was now at final stage. He said that the PTI central leadership and the provincial government was fully awared of livelihood miseries of the low-paid government employees.
He said keeping in view such realities, proposals for up grading the posts of low-paid employees and providing pay increase and other facilities to other official were being worked out seriously and properly. He categorically state that formal announcement to this effect would be made in the next budget.
Pervez Khattak regretted that despite our clear commitments Class IV employees had started protests and road blocks which was not justified in any way. He said that up gradation of government employees is not a special favour to them but it was a firm commitment of the PTI.
He further said that the PTI government would honour all those promises which were made during the election campaign adding that our government would never betray anyone including government employees. He told that the up gradation committee would also finalize its report very soon and present it to the provincial cabinet for consideration.
