Cleanliness drive begins in District East

KARACHI: MQM MNAs Abdur Rashhed Godel and Ali Raza Abdi said on Monday that tree plantation on permanent basis is required to get rid of environmental pollution.

The MQM legislators inaugurated a cleanliness drive in District Municipal Corporation (DMC) East by planting trees at Chahar Meenar Chowragi, Bahadurabad. MQM MPA Mehmood Abdur Razzaq, Municipal Commissioner Baldia East Manzoor Hussain Abbasi, Superintending Engineer Baldia East Fazal Mehmood Gul and KWSB officers also present on the occasion.

“Tree plantation is equally necessary for ensuring cleanliness and eliminating environmental pollution. Public cooperation is very important in this regard. People should themselves plant saplings in their streets,” the MNAs said.

Meanwhile, MNAs with DMC East officers reviewed other civic issues like installation of street lights, anti-insects spray and removal of encroachments.

Abbasi said: “Despite having limited resources, we are trying to maintain nurseries and parks in good conditions. “By growing more and more plants in nurseries, we would play our role to make district East a clean and green area.”
