QUETTA: Access to information is basic right of every citizen. We have waged long struggle for democracy, supremacy of people and freedom of media.

This was stated by Balochistan chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while addressing a conference on legislation for access to information here Wednesday.

Information Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, MPA Mohtarma Spozmai, Secretary Home Akbar Hussain Durrani, Secretary Law Safdar Hussain and others were also present.

He said 18th amendment was long standing demand of Balochistan and we were the most supporter of this than others. We made the constitution democratic and people friendly by rubbing all signs of dictatorship in the 18 th amendment. There has been negligence from Federation for devolve of rights to the province in the past. Present government was taking serious measures for legislation in this connection. Access to information is basic right of every citizen and present government. Our government is not worried of people’s right of access to information because we believe in honesty and transparency and do not want to keep anything secret.

He announced a committed under Information Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal to make amendment in the access to information act and directed it to submit its recommendations prior to sessions of provincial assembly.
