Peshawar: KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in a simple ceremony at CM House Peshawar distributed cheques amounting Rs.28 million of Diyat among the affectees of Ramak incident in Dera Ismail Khan. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Ikram Ullah Gandapur, Minister Revenue Ali Amin Gandapur, Commissioner D.I.Khan Mushtaq Jadoon, other high ups of Dera administration and elite of the area were also present on this occasion.
It may be recalled that 9 persons were killed while 11 seriously fainted due to toxic effluent near Khazana Sugar Mills-2 at Ramak in DIK on 2nd of this month. Hence under a Diyat agreement with the mills administration now Rs.2.5 million each for killed and Rs. 5 lac for seriously affected were released while the mills administration will also immediately construct the bridge and drain where the incident occurred.
Pervez Khattak appreciated the Diyat agreement under the local traditions. However he asked the Dera administration not to be contented on this agreement and payment of compensation amount to the affectees but complete and submit enquiry report of this tragic incident in its real spirit so that responsible persons of the incident could be identified and punished accordingly.
Commissioner Dera told the Chief Minister that following his instructions the affectees were already given compensation amounts on behalf of PDMA and local administration at the rate of Rs.1 lac for killed and Rs.50 thousand for serious affected persons each. Pervez Khattak further asked Secretary Finance to also release compensation amount of Rs.2 million immediately to the affectees on behalf of provincial govt as announced by him.
